Common questions

Quick answers to the most frequent issues.

Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Deck uses MultipeerConnectivity's Bonjour service discovery β€” it won't work across different networks or when Wi-Fi is off.

Also check: the Mac app is running (look for the menu bar icon), and Local Network access is granted for Deck on your iPhone under Settings β†’ Privacy & Security β†’ Local Network.
Yes. Deck uses macOS's CGEvent API to inject only two keystrokes: the left arrow (previous slide) and right arrow (next slide). It does not log keystrokes, read screen content, or send any data outside your local network. The full source code is available on GitHub.
Double-tap requires Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2, or newer running watchOS 10+. The display must be active (wrist raised) β€” it does not fire in always-on / low-luminance state.

Make sure the DeckWatch app is open and in the foreground on your Watch. The app also supports wrist-flick gestures via the gyroscope if double-tap isn't available on your model.
This usually means both the iPhone remote and another input device (keyboard, clicker) are advancing slides simultaneously. Make sure no other remote app is active, and that your presentation software's keyboard shortcut settings match what Deck sends (arrow keys by default).
Quit Deck from the menu bar icon, then drag Deck.app from your Applications folder to the Trash. To revoke Accessibility permission, go to System Settings β†’ Privacy & Security β†’ Accessibility and remove Deck.

If you installed via Homebrew: brew uninstall --cask deck.
Yes. Deck sends standard arrow key events to whatever app is in the foreground on your Mac. Google Slides (in Chrome or Safari), Keynote, PowerPoint, LibreOffice Impress, and any app that responds to left/right arrow keys for navigation will work. Just make sure the browser window is focused before your presentation starts.
